LIFT FAQs
Common questions asked about the LIFT folding bike
Question:
For the SABS antilock brakes - where can I buy replacement pads? Are they standard pads or a special type?
Answer:
We sell replacement SABS brake pads. However, the pads do wear really well. The brake pivots on the LIFT frame are positioned for standard brake pads or SABS anti-lock pads so you can always install standard pads too.
Question:
I have a question about the Lift Premium. Does it have a chain guide to prevent the chain from derailing off the chain ring?
Answer:
The Premium comes with a CNCed narrow wide 54 T chainring and it will mate seamlessly with the chain, almost locking the chain to the ring without much increase in drag.
When looking at a bicycle chain, you will see how each link is pinned together to the next and the gaps between chain links alternate from narrow to wide. The term "narrow wide" chainring describes the shape and profile of the individual teeth driving the chain. Each tooth alternates thickness, narrow wide narrow wide, all the way around the ring. With an old school traditional chainring, all the teeth would be considered narrow and hence leaving gaps in the "wide" links and increasing the opportunity for it to derail off the ring.
Question:
Can you pull a trailer with the 20" LIFT?
Answer:
The Revelo 20" LIFT can pull a trailer such as the Wike and Burley brand of trailers.
Question:
How is the Revelo LIFT different than other folding bikes like the Brompton, and Bike Friday, Dahon, or Tern?
Answer:
The Revelo LIFT is a re-invention of the bike format to fit how people live/work/shop everyday. To live with a bike is to ride it, walk/run with it, hop on/off public transit with it, carry it, and to store it close-by and not have to worry about bike theft.
Revelo LIFT compares very well and have extra features not available from the other folders,
Revelo LIFTs are very capable because of the frame geometry. The Revelo z-fold supports a standard bicycle stem architecture vs. the drop-down handlebar post design of other folders. The stem gives a much solid feel and adjustable fit. The LIFT stem is based on Revelo's patented THINstem innovation that allows the handlebar to rotate 90 degrees in alignment with the frame; you can easily glide and walk with your bike in THIN-mode single handed, taking your LIFT everywhere; take your LIFT in THIN-mode into shops, cafes, and store, and store it in any narrow space or hallway - never lose your bike again to theft! Or, just hook on the LIFT carrying strap and carry it in on your shoulder.
LIFT's anti-lock braking (optional upgrade) means never flipping over when you hard brake.
Question:
How capable is the Revelo LIFT for long rides?
Answer:
A LIFT owner had posted his Strava route recording his Century ride (103 miles) on the Revelo LIFT. Read about it in this
blogpost.
Question:
Can you get common replacement parts or repair service when you are not in Toronto?
Answer:
We designed the LIFT to use standard components and tubes for maintainability anywhere around the world. By not tying you to proprietary parts, we also ensure lower cost of maintenance.
Question:
Can I roll the LIFT backwards when folded?
Answer:
The LIFT should always be rolled forward. To roll the LIFT when the bike is folded, just tilt the LIFT back on its back wheel, and push forward. Because you are rolling on the back wheels, you can easily maneuver the bike into turns, over bumps etc
Question:
Why does the folded bike separate when I lift it to put it into my trunk? Why is the magnet not keeping the two sides of the frame together?
Answer:
The magnet is meant to keep the bike folded for standing and rolling. The velcro strap attached to the frame-handle will provide the strength to keep the two sides "locked". To use the velcro strap, lower the handlebar post and fold the LIFT such that the brake levers face into the frame; then loop the velcro strap from the frame-handle to around the brake lever and pull tight.
Question:
How is the LIFT boxed and shipped?
Answer:
The LIFT is shipped folded and the box dimension is 67 x 86 x 33 cm. The LIFT is almost ready to ride out of the box. Just insert the handlebar post and maintain the desired height with the stem collar, attach the right pedal, and tighten the magnet receiving plate by the rear fork. We recommend having a pump on hand and ensuring the tires are inflated before riding.
Question:
What is the origin of Revelo?
Answer:
Revelo is located in Toronto, Canada. It was founded in 2012 to empower more people to cycle for transportation by re-designing the bike format to fit how people live and travel.
